Mock Bodice & Skirt
Intro Let me first say that I’m not following the U.S. costume 100% like I tried to do with the Hannibal slave girl.  There are a few minor things I think I’d like to tweak. I don’t believe they use a mock bodice on the U.S. versions of the Elissa skirt.  It looks like just one bar with a vertical bar in the center, and the Hannibal bodice just peeks out underneath. See the...

Minor Updates
I couldn’t get a good shot of the front of the skirt when I tried it on, apparently I had my camera on the wrong setting.  And my room’s too small to get the whole train in the photo, so here’s a crappy shot of the back: Fabric Close-ups… Tedious math side of sewing… (Backdrape planning) So I need 8.5 yards for the BACKDRAPES alone, not including the...

Triton surgery
Plotting… Instead of creating more panels, I decided to use gores.  The fit was too tight at the top, but too loose at the bottom.  I added bust gores on each side and a small gore in the back.  I also took the seams in at the front hips. In surgery…. Recovery!

Triton
So I actually have gotten some progress done on Triton — I’ve just made a few mistakes, unfortunately. I re-used my pattern that I drafted for my Hannibal slave girl costume.  I thought that my pattern accounted for seam allowances, but apparently it didn’t and I was supposed to trace them on the fabric!  But that’s OK, it’s fixable.  I will probably add a small inch...

Plans for Elissa
Patterns For the skirt, I’m going to use the McCall’s M5807 wedding pattern.  Photos below:   Gorrrrrgeous wedding dress… would love to make something similar in the future.  Anyway, the skirt seems pretty perfect, with a few tweaks (I’m quite short so I’m sure I’ll have to take it up a bit).  It’s got the hint of a train in the back which I like. ...

Wig!?
Artventures, I think you need to enable comments on your posts — I’m unable to comment on them and would like to!  Under “Customize” I think it’s under “Community” to enable comments. Thanks again for all the lovely comments, I know Tumblr is weird about comments and I’ve been wanting to message you. It’s a real wig from the show. When the...

Testing the fit of the costume...
Nothing has changed since I posted yesterday, but I was dying to try the costume on since I haven’t in a long time - I especially wanted to make sure the beads were OK over the arms, and that the beads in the front stayed on and the belt laid flat. The costume is actually really heavy!  I’m guessing like 7 lbs.  All the boning and beads make it really heavy, but it feels less...

Hannibal
Plaque/Plate over the bust: 90% finished!  I just need to adjust the border trim and put a few more small rhinestones on it. Belt: About 90% finished with this too!  I just need to go back and get a few more gold appliques and glue them on. I already have strung the last of the beads and hand-sewed all of them to this piece. Closures: I need to put hooks & eyes on the removable parts. I...

Almost there...
The costume looks almost finished, but there’s still some little things to wrap up. I’m about halfway done with stringing the beads and rope trim for the middle of the skirt. This week I’ve been hand sewing the beads on, stringing beads, etc etc, my hands are bleeding. I need to finish off the top & bottom edge of the bodice with a nice, small trim. I need to make the...
